Synthetic / Textile SIZE SELECTION When using an athletic shoe to determine size the best types are cross-trainers or court shoes (e.g. basketball, tennis). Lace up leather dress shoes like an Oxford or Derby style also work well for size determination. When trying on shoes for size comparison always wear socks similar in thickness to those that will be used for training. Be sure the comparison footwear is a standard width shoe (“D” or Normal). For women athletic shoes are generally better for determining size than dress style shoes. Below is the conversion between country sizes and US Men and Women sizes.
